El tema de la semana de La Puerta de Tannhaüser era Monstruos, en toda la extensión de la palabra. Me he inclinado por una versión libre y experimental de la condesa Erzsébet Báthory. Y es que los peores monstruos son los monstruos de aspecto humano.

Bueno, amigos. Pues parece ser que en España no se va a emitir, aunque en algunos paises europeos ya se puede ver este spot navideño de Coca-Cola. Este storyboard lo dibujé entre los días 18 y 20 de abril, y fue dirigido por Gabe Ibáñez en Mayo en tierras ucranianas. Os dejo además los videos del animatic (o test previo de visionado) y el del resultado final.

Well, friends. It seems that this commercial is not going to be emitted in Spain, though in some European countries already it is possible to see this Christmas commercial of Coca Cola on TV. I drew this storyboard between the 18th and 20th of April, and it was directed by Gabe Ibáñez in May in Ukrainian lands. I leave you the video of the animatic and another one of the final result.

Freya

Freya, Freia o Freyja es una de las diosas de más alto linaje en las mitologías germano-escandinavas. Esposa de Odín y reina valkiria, es relacionada con la muerte y el amor, aspecto este último más tendente a la lujuria orgiástica y el sexo. Freya y Odín se repartían los caidos en combate, llevando esta a sus elegidos (entre los que podían estar amantes y fieles esposas de guerreros) a Folvang, donde podrían disfrutar de una eternidad de cerveza, hidromiel y sexo.
Alguien, con parte de razón, podría preguntarse que hace Freya con un escocés; pues que yo no tenía ganas de dibujar vikingos por una parte, y por otro lado, aprovechando que el Pisuerga pasa por Valladolid, los vikingos, en alguna de sus innumerables incursiones a las tierras del norte de los escotos y pictos, decidieron quedarse y fundar nucleos de población (Shetland, Orkney), con lo que, probado está, hubo asimilaciones culturales, de vestimenta y religiosas entre ambos pueblos, así como pequeñas migraciones desde Escocia hacia tierras escandinavas. Eso sí, tras intercambiar espadazos varios durante un tiempo.
Sirva esto como argumentación para explicar que esta ilustración es mi aportación a La Puerta de Tannhaüser, cuyo tema de la semana ha sido el erotismo.

Freya, Freia or Freyja is one of the goddesses of higher lineage in the Germanic - Scandinavian mythologies. Oiín´s wife and valkiria queen, is related to the death and the love, love tending to the lust, orgies and sex. Freya and Odin were distributing the fallen in combat, taking the goddess her chosen ones ( lovers and faithful wives of warriors allowed) to a place called Folvang, where they might enjoy an eternity of beer, mead and sex.
Someone, with part of reason, could be thinking what does Freya with a Scot; so because I didn´t have desire of drawing vikings on one way, and taking advantage that Pisuerga river goes through for Valladolid, the vikings, in someone of its innumerable incursions to the lands of the north of the Scots and Picts, they decided to stay there and to found focus of population (Shetland, Orkney), causing so culture, religion and costumes assimilations among both peoples, than migrations from Scotland to scandinavian lands after exchanging several sword strokings during a time.
Serve this as argumentation to explain that this illustration is my contribution to La puerta de Tannhaüser, which topic of the week has been the erotism.

Tom Waits

Mi primera aportación al blog colectivo de ilustradores La Puerta de Tannhaüser. Cada semana se propone un tema y puede participar cualquier ilustrador libremente. El tema de la semana del 3 al 10 de Noviembre era elmonstruogenio Tom Waits, y servidor cogió presto los acrílicos y el papel tela y este es el resultado. Espero que os guste.
My first contribution to the illustrators' collective blog La Puerta de Tannhaüser (Tannhaüser's Gate). Every week there is a topic to illustrate about and any illustrator can take part freely. The topic of the week from November 3 to November 10 was "themonstergenius" Tom Waits. I took the acrylics and the linen canvas texture paper and this is the result. Hope you like it.

Ya queda menos para conocer al nuevo presidente de los Estados Unidos de América. Mientras tanto, pueden ir leyendo el artículo referente al tema escrito por Alberto P. Cancer en la Muy Interesante de Noviembre, nº330, ilustrado con la imagen de Barack Obama y John McCain (como las patatas, no podía resistirme a decirlo, lo siento) que se puede ver encima de estas líneas (el boceto, un poco más abajo, después de la traducción al inglés).
Que Dios reparta suerte, y si gana la peor opción que nos pille confesados.

¿Tiene usted algo que objetar? es el título del artículo que he ilustrado para el número 329 (Octubre 2008) de la revista Muy Interesante. Como indica, va sobre la contraposición de la conciencia personal y las leyes generales. Yo hubiera elegido el boceto del angelito y el diablillo (el que está a color).

Have you something to object? That´s the title of the article that I have illustrated for329 of the Muy Interesante magazine#329 . As it says, the article of this mounth is about the personal conscience in comparison to the general laws. I had preferred the sketch of the angel and the demon (The first one in colors).

No Personal, escrito por Juan José Mediavilla (Palencia, 1983), es el octavo número de la colección Gárgola de Poesía, que edita la Tertulia Literaria Atril de Salamanca. Fué Fernando Díaz San Miguel como editor del libro quien me propuso ilustrarlo con tres imágenes interiores más la portada y he de confesar que desde los primeros versos me enganchó, todo un mérito, ya que no soy muy dado a la poesía contemporanea (siento debilidad por la poesía de Keats, Verlaine o Baudelaire y demás "malditos"...qué se le va a hacer). Por otro lado, es la primera vez que publico ilustraciones para adultos trabajadas digitalmente(excepto la linea, que es pincel) y me he sentido satisfecho con el resultado final. Espero que os guste.

"No Personal" has been written by Juan José Mediavilla (Palencia, 1983), and is the eighth number of the collection Gargoyle of Poetry, which edits the literary gathering Atril in Salamanca. Fernando Díaz San Miguel as publisher of the book proposed me to illustrate it with three interior images plus the cover and I have to confess that from the first verses it hooked me, a whole merit just because I´m not a great fan of contemporary poetry (I feel weakness for Keats's poems, Verlaine, Baudalaire and all that "damned"...that´s it! )
By the way, it´s the first time that I publish digital illustrations for adults and I´ve felt satisfied with the final result.

El artículo que he ilustrado este mes trata sobre el Manifiesto por la lengua común. Yo hubiera preferido un manifiesto por el sentido común.... que falta le hace a la humanidad en general.
Y que el poliglotismo siempre es bueno, caramba.

The article that I have illustrated this month treats about the "Manifest for the common language[in Spain]". I had preferred a manifest for the common sense .... so humanity needs a lot of it.
